As anyone who follows sport closely knows, the modern version of success isn't just something that involves winning championships and beating your fiercest rivals.

Any major team or franchise is a billion dollar proposition with a built in audience and that's the kind of platform you can use to launch any and all kinds of ventures.

That's a long-winded way of saying that the Golden State Warriors are moving into music and have signed a K-pop artist. "We do storytelling, and this is just another form of storytelling," chief business officer David Kelly told the San Francisco Chronicle while introducing the label as part of a wider tranche of entertainment ideas. "It’s a new type of content that we’re well positioned to create." K-pop artist BamBam is the first act to release music through GSW and will drop his track "Wheels Up" later this week after debuting it live during a home game against the Lakers.

The Warriors have also signed a multi-album deal with Oakland rapper Mayzin, according to Kelly. In addition to the music, Golden State will also produce documentaries with Mandalay Sports Media and Oscar-winning documentary director Frank Chi (Two Distant Strangers).
