Former Alabama escapee Casey White pleaded not guilty Tuesday at his arraignment on escape and felony murder charges after his alleged accomplice in the jailbreak shot herself in the head rather than face arrest. Vicky White, a former Lauderdale County, Alabama, corrections official, walked Casey White out of jail on April 29, and the duo led investigators on an 11-day manhunt spanning multiple states and involving disguises and multiple cars. The two were not related but were allegedly involved in a jailhouse romance.  Deputies in Indiana recaptured Casey White after a car chase as the alleged lovers tried to evade capture.

NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns reported Tuesday that John Fetterman, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, still has "a hard time understanding what he’s hearing" ahead of the midterm elections.  Burns appeared on MSNBC’s "Katy Tur Reports" to preview her exclusive interview with the lieutenant governor, which will air in its entirety on Wednesday. Both Burns and Tur noted that this would mark the first time that Fetterman has sat down for a one-on-one interview with a reporter since his stroke in May.

The family of 17-year-old Erik Cantu, who was shot multiple times by a former San Antonio police officer while eating a hamburger in a McDonald's parking lot earlier this month, said Tuesday that the teen is still on life support.  "At this time, there is no improvement in his condition. He is still unconscious and is on life support. The last two days have been difficult and we expect more difficulty ahead, but we remain hopeful," Cantu's family told Fox News Digital in a statement through their attorney, Brian Powers.  "We’d like to correct any misrepresentations that Erik is in ‘stable condition’ or he is 'going to be fine.' That is not true.

The grandmother of Georgia toddler Quinton Simon, who has been missing for nearly a week, thanked her supporters in a Facebook post on Tuesday, when she wrote that "finally" she could "feel the calming peaceful sunshine hitting my face." Billie Jo Howell, who with her husband has legal custodianship of missing 20-month-old Quinton Simon and his brother, took to Facebook on Tuesday afternoon to share a message that she said she had posted "years ago" and that "stands true today."  "Seems there’s always a storm before the calm in my life. Boy let me tell you it felt like a tornado was spinning everything at once," she wrote, alongside interspersed emojis. "Finally I feel the calming peaceful sunshine hitting my face." She added: "Those of you who stood with me and helped me through man y’all are amazing.
