direct to your inboxBosses at Manchester's People's History Museum are calling for urgent support to secure its future.Like many institutions, the pandemic has hit the museum hard.Stars such as Sir Ian McKellen, Julie Hesmondalgh and Maxine Peake are among those to have pledged their support.Bosses need to raise £25,000.During video messages for the campaign, former Coronation Street star Hesmondhalgh said it was her 'favourite museum', highlighting 'ordinary people and our struggles'.Sir Ian described the 'amazing exhibitions' at the museum, which he 'cannot recommend too strongly'.Maxine Peake added: "It is one of my favourite museums in the country,"We will only move forward in the future if we learn from our past.
