Pianist and composer Gerald Clayton has signed with Blue Note Records, the company announced Wednesday (March 4). His first release under the label is expected to hit in June.In a statement, Blue Note president Don Was called Clayton “one of the most accomplished, distinctive and innovative pianists performing today," noting he has recorded and performed with jazz artists including Roy Hargrove and Charles Lloyd. “His solo work is characterized by his imaginative curiosity and harmonic mastery,” Was continued. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the Blue Note family.”Clayton is a four-time Grammy nominee and received an ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2018.
