A Tesco shopper was left 'shaken' after she found out a coating meant that some of Tesco's fruit isn't suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
After reading the label on certain packs of oranges, satsumas and mandarins, she was shocked to see them labelled as non vegan both on the label and online.
She tweeted about her shock and said: “I am shocked to find out that the oranges I was trying to buy all day are not vegan. Pfft.” The woman tried Tesco for the oranges and noted that on their website ‘Tesco Finest Emperor Oranges 4 Pack’ are labelled as non vegan items. The actual fruit was of course vegan as they are plants and vegans eat a plant based diet. The reason that the oranges are classed as non-vegan is due to the chemicals used, often pesticides, to make the fruit look and grow better.
