A teenager has suffered serious injuries following a stabbing in Salford. Police have now issued a dispersal order in an area of Swinton.
Officers were called at 6.20pm today (Thursday) to reports of a 17-year-old who had been stabbed on Barton Road, Swinton. The area was cordoned off after the incident and the boy was rushed to hospital. The Section 60 order runs until 10am tomorrow (Friday 3 May 2024). Under Section 60 authority, officers have extra powers to stop and search people in a defined area within the specific times listed.
Inspector Rodney Ashton of GMP’s Salford district, said: “Our officers are out conducting further enquiries, and we fully understand that the nature of these sort of incidents and our increased presence in the community will spark worry in the community. “Please be assured that our officers are working round the clock to ensure the safety of the local community and to do this we have increased visible officers across the district to provide added reassurance to the public. “We have authorised a section 60 which is highlighted in the map.
