Hannah Waddingham is stepping into some royal shoes, taking over a significant role from Kate Middleton. The Sex Education and Ted Lasso actress could hardly contain her excitement after being named the Godmother of Princess Cruise Line's latest ship, Sun Princess, following its maiden voyage in February this year.

Following the announcement, the 49 year old actress revealed that the new role holds a special place in her heart due to a touching family connection to the marine industry.

As part of her duties, the Eurovision presenter will "christen" the new vessel as it readies for life on the open seas. She described the new gig as a "privilege and pleasure", and as the ship's Godmother, she'll be sending off 4,300 guests "on their way safely with a big hug". "I couldn't believe I have been asked to be a ship Godmother," she gushed to People magazine.

Hannah went on to say: "Having grown up around boats all my life and my grandfather was in the Atlantic Convoy in the Navy, to be asked to be a part of this beautiful honour is a 'pinch me' moment."
