Ricky Gervais
Ricky Dene Gervais (born 25 June 1961) is an English stand-up comedian, actor, writer, film producer, director and musician. He is perhaps best known for creating, writing and acting in the British television series The Office (2001–2003). He has won seven BAFTA Awards, five British Comedy Awards, two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and the Rose d'Or twice (2006 and 2019), as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. In 2007, he was placed at No. 11 on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups and at No. 3 on the updated 2010 list. In 2010, he was named on the Time 100 list of the world's most influential people.

STEPHEN Merchant has dug out his old pal Ricky Gervais is an obscure tweet. The actor answered a question on Twitter asked to the masses by movie buff James King.

The film expert asked followers what their least favourite bit of movie shorthand was. Twitter fans went wild as people flocked to say that the dig was aimed at Ricky Gervais' latest hit offering AfterLife, centred on a man who's struggling to come to terms with the loss of his wife.

To which the comedian answered: "Watching old home movies of dead child/wife = inability to move on." Hundreds of followers couldn't believe Merchant's swipe at Gervais' Netflix series.
