Stark police warning as 23-year-old woman dies after eating 'cannabis sweet'

A stark warning has been issued by police following the death of a 23-year-old woman after she ate a suspected cannabis sweet.

Metropolitan Police said the young woman bought the 'gummies' on a messaging app on her phone. Both her and her 21-year-old friend ate one each and immediately fell ill.

They were taken to an east London hospital for treatment but the 23-year-old tragically died in hospital on April 2. The 21-year-old has since been discharged following treatment. He was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply Class B synthetic cannabinoid, being concerned in the supply of a synthetic cannabinoid, and possession with intent to supply a psychoactive substance.
