Stagecoach issues new timetables as bus services blighted by staff shortages across Ayrshire

There has been disruption today to bus services running in and out of Ayrshire.Operator Stagecoach West Scotland issued an amended timetable that has affected several routes throughout the region.

Among the many services affected are the number 2 service between Ayr and Prestwick, the number 6 between Ayr and Marchburn, the number one between Hayhill and Masonhill and the number 3 between Ayr and Kincaidston.

And cancellations affected the number 14 service between Ayr, Troon and Irvine, while the X77 has suffered some cancellations too.Other services impacted were the 58/60 that runs between Ayr, Girvan and Stranraer.It’s understood that Stagecoach West Scotland is currently experiencing high levels of staff absence as they self isolate due to Covid-19.Stagecoach say they are “working hard” to ensure that service reductions are “minimal” and wherever possible will avoid peak services.A Stagecoach spokesperson said: "As is the case with other transport operators and many other organisations, we are seeing a continuing impact on our staffing levels as a result of the pandemic."Our teams are working very hard to continue running our planned services for customers."However, due to the increasing numbers of employees impacted by the virus, we may not be able to run every service as planned and there may be some changes to services."Where this is the case, we will ensure customers are updated through our website, app and Twitter account with as much notice as possible."The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories
