Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is gearing up for its release in cinemas on September 3, and director Destin Daniel Cretton has finally confirmed its place in the MCU timeline.

Speaking to Fandango, Cretton confirmed that the second film in the MCU's Phase 4 – after Black Widow, which was the first film to be released – is set "in the present day in the MCU timeline".

This means the plot of the upcoming film takes place after the Blip, when the Hulk wore Tony Stark's Nano Gauntlet to resurrect the victims of Thanos' Snap across the universe, with Shang-Chi following on from the events of 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
