‘Sesame Street’ will air town hall discussion on racism for kids

It’s typically sunny days on “Sesame Street,” but the long-running PBS program will take on a serious theme this Saturday. “Sesame Street” and CNN will host a 60-minute town hall special for children and families at 10 a.m.

to discuss racism. Called “Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism,” and airing in response to the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd at the hands of police and the subsequent protests, the show aims to talk to children about prejudice and demonstrations — and teach lessons about embracing diversity and being more empathetic toward others.

The special will feature Big Bird and CNN’s Van Jones and Erica Hill as moderators. “Sesame Street” characters including Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Rosita will join them to answer
