Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has confirmed the move, despite pleas from teaching unions to keep them in place. He told the Daily Telegraph : "As infection rates continue to decline and our vaccination programme rolls out successfully, we plan to remove the requirement for face coverings in the classroom at step 3 of the roadmap.” If all goes to plan, that means they'll be scrapped from May 17, with students only having to wear them in corridors and in other areas of school
