Sign up to our newsletters here.Bibby’s declaration comes after his UK counterpart, ex Labour shadow transport secretary Sam Tarry, was sacked following his appearance on a picket line during strikes organised by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) last month.Tarry voiced his support for the striking workers in a TV interview at the picket line and was sacked by Labour leader Keir Starmer for “making policy up on the hoof” after Tarry said workers should get pay rises in line with inflation.This is despite the fact that just days before Rachel Reeves, Labour’s shadow chancellor, had kept her job after she unilaterally declared that UK Labour had scrapped its commitment to public ownership of water, energy and railways, something that the party later had to backtrack on, saying that it was not their policy.Mr Bibby would not be drawn on his stance on the sacking of Sam Tarry, but did say that striking workers have his support and that he has been in attendance at picket lines to illustrate this.“The Tories are overseeing a cost-of-living crisis and people are suffering every single day, with things
