A Scots schoolboy has been left scarred for life after he was mauled by an out of control Rottweiler. The 12-year-old – who cannot be identified for legal reasons – suffered multiple puncture wounds to his left forearm in the unprovoked savage attack.

The youngster was walking to meet friends when the off-the-lead Rottweiler unleashed the savage attack, after it bolted across a main road, almost causing a pile-up as drivers slammed on their brakes. He was only saved when brave workers who were on a break nearby rushed to intervene.

The dog's owner was said to have been too scared to intervene. The child recalled: "I was just walking when I heard a car horn and when I turned round the dog was on me.

I don’t remember much but it was really scary.”Witnesses pulled the boy to safety over a wall, and chased the dog away. The youngster was then rushed to hospital where he underwent surgical treatment and was kept in for two nights. The child was left with nerve damage, multiple scars, and a profound fear of dogs.He added: “I don’t have much feeling around the bite marks and when I touch the skin it’s like I’m touching someone else’s arm.“I definitely don’t like dogs anymore and now I cross the street if I see any dog coming towards me and I don’t like going to the park or beach where I see dogs off a lead.”The boy's furious mum is now urging people to keep dogs on leads.
