ScotRail passengers hit with train and station booze ban as rail bosses vow to get tough on rule breakers

Booze is set to be banned from all trains and stations across Scotland from Monday, rail chiefs have announced. ScotRail have decided to put a temporary alcohol restriction in place to help ensure passengers stick to strict social distancing rules.

They also hope that the move will help boost compliance of travellers wearing face coverings as the country continues to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Body cameras will be worn by rail staff to help enforce the 24-hour restrictions as bosses vow to call in the cops to deal with repeat rule flouters.David Lister, ScotRail's sustainability and safety assurance director, said: "Throughout the pandemic, our people have been working flat out to deliver a safe and reliable service for customers.
