Edinburgh's Leith has been crowned the best place to live in Scotland.The Scottish capital's former port district has topped the prestigious country-wide list, according to the The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide.Described by judges as a "breath of fresh air", it is noted for its diversity, creative roots and trendy places to eat including Tom Kitchin’s Michelin-starred restaurant.Judges were also impressed by repurposed industrial buildings, such as a former biscuit factory which has become a gin distillery.Irvine Welsh, the best-selling author of Trainspotting, who was born in Leith, responded to the award by saying: “Leith is the sexiest place in the world and it’s the home of Hibs, the sexiest club on earth.
