Scotland -4C cold snap brings 'freezing fog patches' as Met Office expert says 'wrap up'

A deep chill has beset Scotland and the Met Office says the country is set to face more days of icy temperatures and sunshine.The mercury dipped as low as -6C Monday morning in the Highlands with more cold expected this week.

Temperatures will be no warmer than 5C on Monday and Tuesday whilst lows will drop to -4C come tomorrow morning.Scots missing daylight will be rewarded with plenty of sunshine.

While widespread snow isn't expected this week, a brisk wind will make the weather feel even colder - and anyone heading out has been advised to 'wrap up' by meteorologist Marco Petagna.Summing up the week's weather, the Met Office expert said: "We'll see plenty of fine weather across the UK during the week ahead with high pressure generally in charge."Temperatures won't break double digits on Monday with 3C forecast in Glasgow and 4C in Aberdeen.

After a bitterly cold morning, Scots in some regions will be hit by a chilly blast.Marco explained: "Add on the effect of quite a brisk east or northeasterly breeze especially across the south and east of the UK, it'll feel more like a -1 to -2 degrees.
