Rangers fan battered stranger in Tesco car park and screamed 'fenian b*****d' in Old Firm Day attack

Rangers' fan "gritted his teeth and foamed at the mouth" as he launched a "vicious" post- Old Firm derby assault on a complete stranger outside a supermarket, a court has heard.

John Duff, 23, battered 52-year old Ian McDonald to the ground and kicked him repeatedly in the head shouting “Fenian b*****d”.

The attack left his innocent victim - who was just collecting his wife from a supermarket at the time - with significant eye damage, Falkirk Sheriff Court was told on Tuesday.

The incident took place outside Tesco's on Falkirk's Central Retail Park in front of horrified Sunday afternoon shoppers.Prosector Michael Maguire said: "This was a completely unprovoked religiously-aggravated assault on a chap in broad daylight in a Tesco's car.
