Police launch appeal for information after serious three-vehicle crash on Perthshire A9 on Hogmanay

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious three-vehicle crash on the A9 in Highland Perthshire on Hogmanay.A 40-year-old man and a 85-year-old woman were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment following the collision near Blair Atholl at around 11.05am on Sunday, December 31.Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene to cut three people out of their damaged cars.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.05am on Sunday we received a report of a three vehicle road crash on the A9 near to Blair Atholl.“Emergency services attended and a 40-year-old man and a 85-year-old woman were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.”The road reopened at around 5.20pm that day.Sergeant Brian McEwen said: “Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and we are keen to speak to the drivers of other vehicles which were travelling south on the A9 at the time“We would also like to see any dashcam footage that captures the vehicles involved prior to the collision happening.”Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 1182 of 31 December 2023.A Scottish Fire and Rescue Services spokeswoman said: “We got a call at 11.13am to attend a three-vehicle crash on the A9 at Blair Atholl close to House of Bruar .“We sent two appliances at the scene – one from Pitlochry and one from Kirkmichael.“Firefighters freed three casualties trapped in their vehicles.“They handed them over to the ambulance service for transportation to hospital.
