Philanthropic organisation The Gannochy Trust is aiming to distribute around £4 million a year to help local charities as part of its new five-year grant strategy.The five-year plan spans the period 2022 to 2027 and is designed to support the delivery of the Trust’s strategic aims, driven by the ambitions and wishes of its founder Arthur Kinmond (AK) Bell.

The new strategy was developed over several months with input from external consultants and the third sector in Perth and Kinross.The new strategy will guide the Trust’s grant-making priorities to help meet recent challenges, while delivering on its core mission to improve lives and support communities across the region.The Trust will continue to distribute funding throughout Scotland, with a particular focus on Perth and Kinross.The group’s funding within Perth and Kinross will maintain its long-standing aim to “improve the quality of life, improve the quality and availability of the built and natural environment, as well as develop and inspire children and young people aged between zero and 21”.

Local charities and facilities which have benefited from the Trust’s support include PKAVS, PUSH, Perth Autism Support, Perthshire Women’s Aid, Letham4All, YMCA Tayside, Live Active Leisure, Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust, Bell’s Sports Centre, the AK Bell Library, Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall to name but a few.

A group spokesperson said: “The Trust’s Grants Plus programme will remain a key element of the new strategy, as the Trust continues to build resilience and sustainability in the sector by helping charities innovate, build capacity, and develop strong governance structures."In addition to its grant making activity, the Trust also manages a 700-acre estate
