Former chief executive Peter Lawwell has made a sensational Celtic return after being appointed as non-executive chairman at Parkhead.
The 63-year-old spent almost two decades in his previous role during a trophy-laden spell for his boyhood heroes. Lawwell stepped down in 2021, initially to be replaced by Dominic McKay whose spell was short-lived, has now returned to succeed Ian Bankier who retired from his position. The Hoops won 29 trophies during his time as chief executive and he is now back at the club.
Lawwell, whose son Mark is head of scouting and recruitment, was still a director and represented Celtic as a board member of the European Club Association.
And he told the club website: “As a lifelong Celtic supporter it is a great privilege to be asked to take up the position of chairman, having already been part of our great club for nearly 18 years."These are exciting times for the club and I look forward to contributing to the well-being and success of the Club.
