PES to become a free-to-play game after Konami rebranding

Cut through the noise by getting the day's biggest stories sent direct to your inbox Pro Evolution Soccer - or PES as it has more commonly known to many gamers - has been viewed as a competitor to the FIFA gaming franchise over the years.

However, a drastic change in rebranding means the series will now be known as eFootball. And that's not the only drastic change as it will also be free-to-play. READ MORE: The game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC this August - with iOS and Android versions to follow.

Series producer Seitaro Kumara said a different approach will be taken with regular updates to the game - yearly updates for each new season will be free.
