Oscar nominee Paul Mescal has spoken of his “fury” after a fan groped him outside the theatre where he was performing. Irish actor Paul, 27, whose film Aftersun has won him a clutch of best actor nominations this awards season, was outside Almeida Theatre in north London, where he was starring in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire, when he was asked for a photo. The Oscar-nominated actor, who is hoping to win Best Lead Actor at the 94th Academy Awards next month, said he was instantly filled with fury as soon as the "creepy" fan laid hands on his behind.

He told ES Magazine: “As we posed for it, she put her hand on my a**. I thought it was an accident, so I like (moved away) but the hand followed. “I remember tensing up and feeling just, like, fury.

I turned to her and said, ‘What’re you doing? Take your hand off my a**’.” He said “the last thing” he wanted to do was “call somebody out in front of the theatre – it’s uncomfortable for everyone involved – but it was really not okay.

It was so gross, creepy”. Opening up about the bad parts of being famous, Paul admitted that some of his fans have been exceptionally rude when bumping into him out in public - especially after he became a household name after his role in Normal People.
