Part of Salford Quays appears to have been hit by an oil spill. A stretch of water at South Bay, between Merchants Quay and Clippers Quay, looks to be affected.

One witness told the Manchester Evening News the oil spill appeared to be 'getting larger' earlier this afternoon, before it 'spread out'.

Another witness said: "There's a barge in the quay. There's a bit of oil coming from it. "The entire quay is an absolute tip to be honest, it's horrible.
