Robbie Savage believes despite Harry Maguire's lack of form, Manchester United are better with him in the team. The England international has been a frequent target for criticism from fans and pundits alike for his susceptibility to make mistakes.
He has remained a prominent figure in the United starting XI, sitting out of the draw with Aston Villa as well as missing the defeat to Wolves through injury.
But Savage believes Maguire's presence around the club, as well as his partnership with Raphael Varane, make him a certainty for a starting position. "No I don't [think United are better without him] Varane and Maguire for me is the partner for me, they've got Bailly and Lindelof.
but I think Maguire and Varane are the best two," he told William Hill. "What Maguire lacks in a little bit of pace, his influence in the dressing room, the youngsters coming through the academy, my son [Charlie], his work ethic, okay he's not in the best of times but he never shirks responsibility he's always there. "The goal against Burnley he's tried to go too tight, I don't know why he's tried to win the ball there against Weghorst so it was a mistake.
