Parents rights group files complaint alleging casting of a school play violates the Civil Rights Act

Tensions heated up at a school board meeting in a suburb of Detroit when parents blasted "sexually explicit" books in the school library.  Dearborn Public Schools held a meeting on Thursday to address parents’ concerns over books and curriculum. This meeting came after a tumultuous school board meeting on Monday was cut short due to a crowd of rowdy parents taking issue with how the district decides if a book is appropriate for the school library.

Democratic representatives seeking re-election this fall in Virginia remain silent after cozying up with a delegate in the state legislature whose new bill would make it a punishable crime for parents not to affirm their LGBT children. On Thursday, Delegate Elizabeth Guzman told WJLA that at the start of the new legislative session, she will introduce a bill that would penalize, with a misdemeanor or felony charge, parents who do not affirm their LGBT children.The bill would expand the state's definition of child abuse and neglect to include parents who do not affirm their LGBT children's gender identity or sexual orientation. "Well, we first have to complete an investigation," Guzman told WJLA about the new bill.

Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz said on "America's Newsroom" he believes Black voters in the state are increasingly rejecting Democrat John Fetterman's policies.  Oz said the people in Philadelphia are not "having it" in regard to heroin injection sites, supported by Fetterman. He responded to a new Fox News poll showing Fetterman leading among non-White voters 52-24%.

Former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, the state's Democratic candidate for Senate, received an endorsement from a major racial justice group that supports defunding and disbanding the police. The political action committee (PAC) for Color of Change, which former Obama White House adviser Van Jones co-founded in 2005, announced in August that it would support Beasley's bid for Senate in large part because of her platform of "reforming the criminal justice system." Color of Change regularly posts on social media in support of anti-police policies and the Black Lives Matter movement. "Police brutality shows us that more cops in Black neighborhoods doesn't keep us safe, it harms Black people," the group tweeted in 2020.

Virginia parents with differing viewpoints sounded off on school policies they say harmed children at Tuesday's Loudoun County Public Schools board meeting. As the battle over parental rights and protections for LGBT students heats up in Virginia, one state delegate said she will introduce a bill in the legislature's next session that would make it a crime for a parent or guardian not to affirm their child's sexual orientation or gender identity.  The move is in response to Republican Virginia Gov. The death of Kiely Rodni, a California 16-year-old who vanished after an end-of-summer high school party near Lake Tahoe in August, has officially been ruled an accidental drowning, authorities announced Thursday. Rodni was last seen shortly after midnight at a large party near the Prosser Creek Reservoir, in the Tahoe National Forest near Truckee, California.  Authorities initially treated her disappearance as a possible abduction and searched the area for more than two weeks without finding any signs of the missing girl or her vehicle, a silver Honda CRV. Despite conducting more than 100 interviews, investigators struggled to locate anyone who had seen her leave the area – accessed by a bumpy dirt road.

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in the beating death of a Los Angeles liquor store clerk and authorities seeking three other suspects.  Steven Reyes, 68, was killed on Oct. 6 following a robbery outside Tony’s Market in the Highland Park neighborhood.

A Michigan teenager allegedly jumped over the retaining wall of a freeway and fell 25 to 30 feet after running out of gas in an allegedly stolen Mustang during a police chase on Wednesday evening, the Brownstown Police Department said. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and did not appear to have any life-threatening injuries.  The nearby Woodhaven Police Department originally put out an alert that three Mustang Shelby GT500s had been stolen from the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant around 7 p.m.

Sen.Tom Cotton, R-Ark., is raising questions about whether the Air Force broke the law by releasing personnel records for a GOP congressional candidate, which outed her as a survivor of sexual assault. Parents are chiming in and speaking out as one school district in Pennsylvania has announced it's canceling its annual Halloween parades for elementary students due to safety and "inclusivity" concerns. Dominique Izbicki, a resident of Montgomery County, told Fox News Digital she doesn't agree with the decision. "Generally, I'm just disappointed that we are taking an approach to inclusivity as trying to go down to the lowest common denominator rather than trying to celebrate all cultures, all religions and all views for our kids," said Izbicki.

Law enforcement officers in Arizona discovered 72,000 suspected fentanyl pills during a traffic stop leading to a police chase involving a fleeing suspect. Police said the suspected fentanyl pills were worth $1.4 million. Navajo County Sheriff's deputies seized the suspected fentanyl pills during a traffic stop on Monday.

An arrest has been made following the release of security footage showing a man forcefully walking a teenage girl before she was sexually assaulted in a Los Angeles bathroom, police said Wednesday.  The Los Angeles Police Department told Fox News an arrest has been made but could not confirm if the suspect seen on camera was the person in police custody. The incident occurred Tuesday at a park in the El Sereno neighborhood.  A suspect is seen with a teen girl in Los Angeles moments before she was sexually assaulted.

Escambia County Public Schools, Florida considered a proposal to revise a policy to allow parents to decide what books their children can read. At the beginning of Escambia County schools' "special workshop" on Monday, school board members addressed concerns over books that have been accessible to students.The workshop stemmed from a teacher's claim last month that over 100 books in Escambia County Public Schools violated Florida law.  "I think at some point we have to know that we have professionals working for us that are evaluating, making decisions, based on the literature that is being proposed.

Liz Mathis, a Democrat who is seeking to represent the Iowa's 2nd Congressional District, said this week that defining a woman is a "tough question" and suggested that the only way to change controversial policies in a particular school district in the state is to vote for different board members. The closely watched midterm races in Georgia are tightening just four weeks before the November 8 election, according to a new poll that shows abortion is the leading issue over inflation among Democratic voters. A new Quinnipiac University survey found that inflation is the top most important issue to 43% of likely voters in Georgia, while abortion was of top concern to only 14% and election laws to 11% of respondents.  Among likely Democratic voters in Georgia, however, abortion was the most important to 27%, election laws were most crucial for 17%, and gun violence to 13%. With prices remaining high across the country, inflation was only of top concern to 12% of Democratic respondents in the Peach State.

A bipartisan group of House lawmakers led by Colorado Republican Ken Buck will introduce legislation this week that would form a new task force aimed at combating the nationwide surge in mob retail theft. Buck told Fox News his bill, which he will introduce Friday, is a companion to Iowa Sen. A massive brawl broke out at a high school in Baltimore County recently as parents and community activists raise the alarm on children's safety.  Cell phone video captured by a bystander shows two groups of students swinging wildly at each other in the hallways of Lansdowne High School.  Lansdowne High School educates about 1,345 students in Baltimore County, Maryland.  (Google Maps) The school's principal tried to break up the altercation and was attacked, according to Fox 45. "How can our kids learn when they're in this fight or flight mode? An Indiana man accused of smuggling three migrants crashed his car during a high-speed chase in Uvalde County recently, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Richard Diaz, 21, allegedly told police that he was being paid $3,000 per person to smuggle the migrants from the border community of Eagle Pass to San Antonio.  He was charged with two counts of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury, Texas DPS spokesman Christopher Olivarez told Fox News Digital.  The driver sped off during an apparent traffic stop in Uvalde County, Texas.  (Texas Department of Public Safety) Dashcam footage shows the driver accelerate away from an apparent traffic stop at night.
