Outraged parents have said that their children are going hungry and claim that they have had to drop food off at their school due to 'shameful' meals.Concerns have been raised over the daily school dinners offered, where parents have slammed the food supply, claiming that their children are going without.

Several parents of pupils at Wyvern Academy, County Durham, have voiced their concerns over the current state of the school meals system and have called for urgent changes to be made to the menu, Chronicle Live writes.

Some say that they rely on free school meals due to low incomes but have had to spend money on packed lunches to ensure that their child was guaranteed a meal.Others have said that they have regularly dropped off food at the school gates due to food supplies running out before all pupils on school meals could be fed.Pictures of food that has been dished out show tiny portions of potatoes, pasta and undercooked chicken.

Each parent spoken to wished to remain anonymous for fear of retribution.“They regularly run out of food by the time it's my daughter’s turn in the dining hall,” one parent said. “She often texts and asks me to drop off food.
