A city centre resident said the decision to install a wooden structure in Piccadilly Gardens has made the public square ‘worse’ when ‘no-one thought [it] could’.
Scott Dawson, who has lived near the gardens for nearly 10 years, believes the structure is taking up valuable green space which could be used by sun-seekers on a nice day.
The wooden platform was installed as part of the city’s annual Christmas markets last winter. Since then it has mainly remained closed.
Mr Dawson believes it should be kept open to the public while it stays in place. The M.E.N. understands the council has plans in place to use the platform — which was opened for St Patrick’s Day — as part of the city’s jubilee celebrations.
