New furlough extension rules on temporary leave and monthly pay explained

Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been extended until March 31, 2021 and will be reviewed in January 2021. Additional restrictions over the past few weeks plus the introduction of the ‘tiered’ lockdown system means that large parts of Scotland are still facing huge financial challenges this Christmas.

If your employer cannot maintain their workforce because their operations have been affected by COVID-19, they can put you on furlough and apply for a grant to cover a portion of your usual monthly wage costs.

They will only receive financial support for the time that you’re on furlough and can claim 80 per cent of your usual salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500 per month.All employers with a UK, Isle of Man or Channel.
