New addition to zoo family

An endangered Scottish wildcat was recently born at Five Sisters Zoo in West Lothian.The zoo managed to breed the cat despite the species being declared as functionally extinct in the wild in 2018.Five Sisters are one of a number of different wildlife collections that collaborate in order to ensure the long term survival of this population.The breeding programme is a lifeline for the fragile population and without help from conservationists and zoos, would be dangerously close to disappearing completely.There are now four of the wildcats at the zoo.
