New £20m ASN school campus has been named after Ayrshire town's founder

North Ayrshire Council cabinet members had the final say and unanimously agreed on the name this week at a virtual meeting.

Wendy Rose has been appointed as the headteacher of the new school, which caters for children and teens from the age of three to 18.

Ms Rose was previously headteacher of Corsehill Primary in Kilwinning.The Lockhart campus will sit alongside a respite and residential centre offering eight bedrooms for young people with complex needs.

The school will boast a swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool and outdoor classrooms as well as play areas. The four schools to be amalgamated have been getting ready to come together.
