A new £1 hangover pill has gone on sale in the UK after more than three decades of research and development. The "ground-breaking" food supplement is said to break down 70 per cent of the alcohol that has been consumed after 60 minutes, with the product also claiming to support immunity and boost energy levels with B12.The pre-drinking pill bills itself as "the first product in history to break down alcohol effectively".
It was initially invented back in 1990 by scientist Johan de Faire, and has now been "perfected over 30 years of research and design." Now rebranded as Myrkl, it comes in a pack of 30 capsules with a £30 price tag - meaning one pill is just £1 a pop.
So how does it work? According to Myrkl, the pill is 100 per cent natural and vegan - all ingredients are authorised and recognised as safe by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) and users simply need to take two pills before drinking – either at least one hour before or any time up to 12 hours before.The brand's website reminds consumers to drink responsibly, the statement reads: “MYRKL helps breaking down alcohol fast before it reaches the liver, it is not suited and aimed to alleviate the impact of excess alcohol consumption. “MYRKL must never be an excuse to drink more alcohol and you should always limit your alcohol consumption within the government guidelines.” Håkan Magnusson, CEO at Myrkl said: “Marking the first time in history that a consumer product is demonstrated to effectively and rapidly break down alcohol, we are very excited to be launching this ground-breaking product in the UK and in most European markets. “Moderate social drinking is a huge part of British culture, with the majority of British people heading out each week to enjoy a.
