A supermarket accused of 'taking the mick' out of customers with price rises has hiked the cost of basics once again. We reported last week how shoppers said that Morrisons is 'laughing at customers' with regular increases.
The hikes have been highlighted in our weekly comparison of basics like milk and bread, which has been keeping track of the costs of the same eight products at the six main supermarkets - Tesco, Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Sainsbury's and Morrisons.
It's the latter that has been in the spotlight most as it went from being the cheapest, before quickly climbing to become the most expensive over a matter of weeks. Read more: Things to do with the kids in and around Manchester this summer After last week's comparison saw the overall bill rise from £11.25 to £11.78 in the space of a week, disgruntled shoppers had their say. "They're really taking the mick now," said one. "I've shopped there for years, but the prices seem to be going up more than anywhere else.
It feels like they're laughing at us." However it hasn't stopped further rises this week, as the retailer has increased the price of its two-pint bottle of milk, from £1.15 to £1.25, and its cheapest Savers teabags, from 59p a pack to 65p.
