Glasgow cafe has dedicated its outside wall to a legendary black footballer. Andrew Watson led a team from the city to victory in the 1800s with multiple Scottish Cup Wins.
A mural of the player has now been painted on the side of Jodandys cafe in Shawlands in the hope of restoring his memory, believed to be the first black international professional footballer in the world.
Andrew Lees, whose mum Audrey Hart owns the cafe, came up with the idea for the tribute.He told the Daily Record: “It came about as a result of those involved in the Black Lives Matter movement.“There were suggestions for a lot of famous people but I wanted to celebrate someone with connections to Glasgow.“I started researching and learned about Andrew Watson.
