Most of Paisley Chivas site set to be knocked down by end of year

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.The majority of the former Chivas Brothers site in Paisley is set to be demolished by the end of this year with Renfrewshire councillors staging final talks over the contract award this week.But according to finance board documents, the iconic old main reception building which fronts onto Renfrew Road is safe for now.Elected members will be asked to award the £394,000 demolition contract to Caskie Limited at a meeting this afternoon.If the board agrees, papers state contractors will be able to move onto the site from the end of April, with works due to be completed by December 17.However, the council has said the demolition at this stage will not.
