A supermarket has dropped the price of a key grocery item, but is still the most expensive for these shopping essentials. We reported last week how Asda has been the most expensive in our weekly shopping comparison for more than eight months of this year.
This week is its eighth consecutive week as the dearest supermarket for the shopping basket containing butter, milk, bread, tea bags, coffee, beans, chicken and mince.
But it's now been in the unfortunate position for 35 weeks of this year. It has however reduced one of its items this week in line with all the other supermarkets.
It's now selling its 250g block of butter for £1.69, a price many of the others have had it at for a number of weeks.
