Mobile pizza oven and crew of four motor from Scotland to Poland to feed refugees

A mobile pizza restaurant team is heading from Loch Tay to the Polish border, intending to serve around a thousand hot meals and drinks a day to people streaming out of Ukraine.The Perthshire events organiser David Fox-Pitt and three others are en route to Poland after taking a ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam on Sunday.David has access to lots of equipment through his business WildFox Events Ltd.

He was motivated to use this kit to make a difference, along with his three friends.With Jimmy Wallace from Aberfeldy, plus Chris Mackintosh from Crieff, and with a school pal’s son from Sussex Will Giesler, David has loaded an all terrain vehicle – a Unimog – usually used for his endurance events in Scotland, stuffed with food, tables, chairs, tents, gazebos and cushions.And towed behind this is a mobile pizza oven which David hopes will attract local volunteers in Poland to help serve the food to the massed refugees fleeing conflict.From this ‘meals on wheels’ field kitchen they can bake fresh bread and cook pizza and burgers, providing a hot meal to famished Ukrainian refugees.The second vehicle is a Land Rover Defender which has a platform for two of the crew to sleep on inside a tent.Now driving through the Netherlands and across Germany, they will drive two vehicles to the border with Poland.David has been fundraising for Siobhan’s Trust - https://siobhanstrust.uk/ - a charity begun by his aunt, which previously saw him dressed as Santa, offering free pizzas to hungry kids outside Dundee primary schools last Christmas.The Siobhan Trust page has pinned a message saying 100 per cent of all donations made since February 24 when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, are to be spent on Ukraine aid, not on other projects.The
