Met Office issues latest verdict on heatwave chances in Greater Manchester

The Met Office has issued its latest verdict on whether a heatwave could be on its way to Greater Manchester. Reports in recent days suggest an Iberian heatwave could arrive in the UK at the start of next month, bringing more high temperatures to parts of the country.

According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, the start of September could bring some "very warm or even hot" temperatures in the high 20s to the UK. The yellow heat health alert covers the south east and east of England and will be in place from 9pm on Saturday, August 31, until Monday, September 2, at 9am.

However, in Greater Manchester, temperatures are unlikely to reach such highs, staying in the low 20s throughout the weekend.
