Covid-19 to make Volunteer Week a success in Scotland.Tens of thousands of Scots dedicated their time to the country’s emergency response teams, charities and healthcare service as part of the annual initiative, despite the country being on lockdown.First Minister Nicola Sturgeon this week thanked more than 60,000 people who signed up to the Scotland Cares campaign, helping ease the burdon on the NHS, public services and communities.And Volunteer Scotland, who spearhead Volunteer Week, have estimated that almost half of the 35,000 Scots who signed up with them before the pandemic still found a way of helping others amid the crisis.Special Constable Saul Johnstone, 23, has been working full-time with Police Scotland’s Greater Glasgow.
