He won, but he remembers being awestruck by runner-up Cari Fletcher. “I had no idea if I had a crush on her, if I wanted to be her, or if I wanted to work with her,” he recalls.

They stayed in touch over the next few years, and Geraghty watched closely as Fletcher competed on The X Factor in 2011 (as part of a short-lived girl group).
