Lee Bowyer has provided a positive update on injured Manchester United midfielder Tahith Chong after the midfielder was sidelined following groin surgery.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful short-term spell at St Andrew's as Birmingham started the season off brightly, but the United loanee suffered a training injury that meant he had to go under the knife.

He was set to undergo four to five months rehabilitation on the injury, which meant his loan in the Championship was cut short as he continued his recovery back at Carrington.

But Bowyer remains positive of welcoming him back before the temporary contract ends, after initially describing the news as a "massive loss" for the midlands side.
