Food banks in Greater Manchester say they need more donations after coronavirus panic buying has led to a shortage of food. Several food banks in the region, run by the Trussell Trust, are running low on essential items such as long-life milk and tinned tomatoes.

The centres, of which there are 19 across Greater Manchester, are a vital lifeline for thousands of people living in financial difficulty.

But leaders say they are now facing an "unprecedented challenge" due to coronavirus. It comes at a time where food banks are already dealing with record numbers of people in need of emergency food.
