Hundreds of people in Greater Manchester say schools and workplaces should be closed due to coronavirus outbreak

Almost two thirds of people in Greater Manchester who voted in a new survey believe schools and workplaces should be closed due to coronavirus.

The data, collected by community platform InYourArea, asked people: "Do you think schools and workplaces should close due to Coronavirus?" Some 58.74 per cent (289) of respondents in our region said they should be closed.

A total of 26.63 per cent (131) said 'no' and 14.63 per cent (72) said they didn't know. The vast majority of areas across the country backed closures, with just a handful disagreeing.

Nationally, some 58.7pc of respondents voted 'yes'; 27.8pc 'no'; and 13.5pc 'I don't know'. Several schools across the region have already temporarily closed and many workers across the regions
