Levenshulme and parts of Burnage could form Greater Manchester’s first fully filtered, active neighbourhood.Plans for the project included a 'cycle and walking link' in the area, blocking traffic access to roads by 'modal filters' that favoured cyclists and ‘school streets’ that restrict traffic during specific hours in order to be safer for families to walk.Formed by residents in the area and a dedicated project team, the Network received support from Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester.It also recently secured programme entry for £2.5m from the Mayor’s Challenge Fund.However, Levenshulme Bee Network has announced that Manchester City Council had decided to end its involvement with the current project team in order.
