Manchester Airport has announced a new direct route to a Moroccan coastal city. Royal Air Maroc will operate flights three times a week to Casablanca in the North African country.

The route is in addition to existing services to the Moroccan capital Marrakech, giving travellers more choice when it comes to destinations.

Casablanca conjures up images of the Golden Age of Hollywood thanks to the 1942 film of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart.

Although the film wasn’t shot there, there is a romance to the city thanks to its art deco architecture and sea views. The city is an ideal gateway for further exploration of sub-Saharan Africa, opening up opportunities for travellers.
