Man charged after car 'explodes into flames in Glasgow street following crash'

A man has been charged after a car exploded into flames in Glasgow following an alleged early morning crash.Emergency services raced to the alleged smash in Gallowgate, near to St Mungo's Academy, after the vehicle caught fire at around 12.10am.Cops launched a manhunt in a bid to find the driver of the vehicle after all occupants allegedly fled the scene.However, officers have now said the driver of the vehicle was traced "safe and well".The force confirmed a 35-year-old man has been charged with road traffic offences.The road was closed for several hours while officers tried to locate the driver and cut into the vehicle to ensure no one was trapped inside.Chief Inspector Scott Simpson of Greater Glasgow policing said: “The driver of the car involved in a crash on Gallowgate, Glasgow, at around 12.10am on Thursday, 16 June, 2022 has been traced safe and well.“A 35-year-old man has been charged with a number of road traffic related offences.”
