A man splashed out £500 to win a bidding war for Manchester United tickets at a charity auction - then set them on fire after collecting them on stage.

He's believed to be a Leeds United supporter - and his stunt was filmed in footage that has now gone viral on social media. The winning bidder, who hasn't been identified, was attending a charity ball held in memory of Leeds mum-of-two Sharon Witcher, who passed away two years ago from cancer, to raise money for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. In the video, the Leeds fan can be seen taking a lighter to the corner of the tickets before they go up in flames. He then places the tickets into a bucket that he raises up to show the packed hall, prompting football chants and cheering from the Leeds-based audience.

Danny Waite, 32, posted the video to Twitter where it swiftly went viral and racked up more than 2,200 likes and 620,000 views.
