Man arrested after ‘throwing shotgun cartridges into Buckingham Palace’ ahead of King’s coronation

A man has been arrested for throwing shotgun cartridges into the grounds of Buckingham Palace just days before King Charles’ Coronation is due to take place on Saturday.The attack took place at around 7pm this evening, with the royal residence soon cordoned off from the public in the wake of the attack.

Officers at the scene reported that the man was also carrying a suspicious bag, with his belongings now being examined by specialist investigators.

A controlled explosion was carried out outside Buckingham Palace after a man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, the Metropolitan Police said.

He was arrested at around 7pm after he approached the gates and threw items, suspected to be shotgun cartridges, into the Palace grounds.
