A 27-year-old man has died after a motorbike crash on a main road in Wigan. The smash happened on the A577 Orrell Road in the Orrell area, near the Raj Gate Indian restaurant, at around 4.25am yesterday morning (April 25).

Police believe a motorbike was travelling east on the main road, towards Wigan town centre, when it 'crossed over to the offside carriageway'.

The bike then mounted a footpath before hitting a lamppost. The rider became 'unseated' and landed in a nearby car park, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
